BIOGRAPHY

From a family of French jewelers, Kok took a taste for painting at an early age when he saw his father paint. Trained at a very young age in fine arts in Bordeaux and at the School of Applied Arts in Gironde. The artistic genes had been passed on.

Kok was already published at the age of 16. Exhibitions and comics follow one another. The world of comics play a prominent role in his work, (Moebius/ Giraud, Corben, Liberatore, Bilal etc.)

He began a career as a rock musician, guitarist, singer, songwriter, composer and producer whose pop art and Dadaist world of punk music considered a subculture as influence; nourishes his art.
To be able to take care of his children, he puts on stand by his career as a musician and concentrates on comics (adults) and painting, which he never really stopped (record covers and concert posters).

At the beginning of his painting, he was directly inspired by the comic book universe, then over the course of his research, he included more and more dots-based frames, sometimes adhesives to schematize and “facilitate” the understanding of the Chiaroscuro.

Black and white being the ultimate transformation of an image, which requires the most efforts of interpretation and stylization, allowing to reach the essential. Kok experiments and creates with the concept of particles, where the viewer is invited to look at details and discover the intricate canvas on which the full image is relying to exist. Somehow a perfect mirror of life and people.

He enjoys collaborative Art and often found the right alchemy with Photographs. Kok has currently set his creative studio in south Cambodia, where splendid tropical nature and colorful scenery of everyday life are source of inspiration and creation.
